Scalable Software launches In UK
03/04/07
Scalable
Software LLC, a market leading software publisher, is proud to
announce the launch of its UK operations, and the appointment of a
new and dynamic senior management team, spearheaded by industry
veteran Mark Cresswell.
Since 1999, Scalable Software LLC has been helping its customers
gain much tighter control of their IT budgets. Through the
deployment of Scalable’s unique usage metering technology, it has
reduced wasteful IT expenditure for many organisations – sometimes
by millions of dollars. The company now has aggressive plans to
extend its reach and leadership position in EMEA and has chosen
British soil to situate its headquarters. Joining Mark Cresswell in
Europe are Product and Marketing Director Nick Youell, and EMEA
Sales Director, Peter Cook. Together this highly experienced team
will head up all marketing and sales activities, which includes
appointing new channel partners in the UK and Europe.
Scalable Software’s flagship product, Survey, allows organisations
to effectively track software and hardware usage enabling IT
business executives to reduce the cost and commercial risk of their
IT environments, without compromising quality or productivity.
Survey provides comprehensive ‘true usage’ information for software,
hardware and printers - ensuring companies only pay for what they
use, while also guaranteeing compliance with licensing and other
contractual obligations. Survey’s usage metering capability uniquely
distinguishes between software applications, which are installed and
open on machines, but may be lying idle, and those which users are
actually interacting with. It then provides business level reports
on the ‘true usage’ of applications, which are easily understood by
commercial managers and procurement executives. Armed with this
information companies are able to reduce maintenance costs,
renegotiate their license terms with vendors and redeploy software
licenses instead of purchasing more.
Scalable Software has the backing of private software investment
company, JMI Services. JMI has successfully invested in many
infrastructure software companies which focus on managing,
monitoring, securing and automating today’s IT environments across
the enterprise.
“Scalable is generating immediate and very substantial, hard-cash
savings for its customers in North America and Asia”, comments
Cresswell. “With such a clear value proposition, we are confident we
can replicate the success of the product here in Europe.”
Recent surveys have shown that most organisations now overbuy
licences for up to 60 per cent of their software portfolio. “We have
been able to reduce an organisation’s IT budget in the range of 20
to 40 percent in the first year alone”. Scalable’s Product and
Marketing Director, Nick Youell, explains:
“Survey’s usage metering system provides unique differentiators over
its competitors. The detailed information it provides allows
companies to decide whether to retire underused applications,
redeploy software to other areas of the business, or justify fresh
investment. The asset intelligence Survey provides is crucial when
companies are re-negotiating licensing terms with vendors, as it
puts them in the commanding position of knowing exactly what they
are using, as opposed to simply what is installed. This in turn
means they can negotiate reduced cost fees and pay a fair price -
but only paying for what they are actually using.”
Survey provides ‘easy to understand’ business focused reports which
communicate the vital intelligence on, how where and when hardware
and software is being used. For example, recent research has shown
that 92 percent of users with a full Acrobat licence use it as a
read-only application, and not for actually creating content or
editing. Therefore, many of those companies surveyed could simply
install a free viewer rather than purchase the full licence.
